Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a celebration adn reminder of human mortality and as a sign of mourning and repentance to God. On Ash Wednesday, we pledge to turn away (convert) from sin and be more faithful to God. The ashes used are typically gathered from the burning of the palms from the previous year’s Palm Sunday. All who believe are welcome to join us to receive ashes, no need to be Polish National Catholic.
Once again this year, we will have two Ash Wednesday services, one in the morning at 10am and the other in the evening at 6:30pm.
